Anvisa bans Paraguayan T36 weight-loss medication in Brazil
Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has banned the import, storage, distribution, sale, advertising, and use of T36, a weight-loss medication produced by Laboratorios Catedral in Paraguay. The drug, which contains tirzepatide, lacks sanitary registration in Brazil, meaning its safety and efficacy have not been evaluated by national authorities.
The ban, formalized through Resolution RE nº 3.626/2026, applies to individuals, companies, and media outlets. Anvisa also reiterated its prohibition on the sale of GLP-1 receptor agonists via the website Go Pharma, which had been advertising unregistered medications, including those claiming to contain retatrutide—a substance not yet approved in any country.
Anvisa warned consumers that medications should only be purchased through regularized physical pharmacies or their official digital channels. Purchasing from unauthorized sources poses significant risks to product provenance, composition, and conservation, potentially compromising safety and effectiveness.
