Anvisa bans Voy weight‑loss platform for lacking medical‑software registration
Brazil's health regulator Anvisa issued a prohibition, published in the Diário Oficial da União on 26 May, that bars the online platform Voy from operating. The agency said Voy provides personalized obesity treatments and medication referrals without being registered as a medical‑software device and without the required pharmacy authorization. "Plataformas que realizam a indicação de medicamentos e de suas dosagens se enquadram na categoria de software médico," Anvisa explained, adding that the responsible company, Revia Gestão de Negócios Ltda., lacks the mandatory Autorização de Funcionamento de Empresa (AFE). Anvisa warned that medicines obtained outside licensed pharmacies may lack guarantees of origin, composition and quality. Voy responded that it was surprised by the decision, characterized the issue as purely administrative, and indicated it would keep the site online while it appeals the ruling, asserting it does not sell or dispense drugs.
