Anvisa orders Peptistrong supplement recall over safety concerns

The Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has ordered the mandatory recall of all batches of the food supplement Peptistrong, manufactured by Biostevi Pharma (Manipulação Stevia Ltda.). The agency suspended the production, sale, distribution, and advertising of the product because its active ingredient, hydrolyzed fava protein, has not undergone the required safety and toxicity evaluations for food use.

In a separate regulatory matter, the Public Ministry of São Paulo (MPSP) has archived an investigation regarding the suspension of cleaning products from the brand Ypê. The investigation followed Anvisa's previous decision to suspend certain detergents, liquid soaps, and disinfectants manufactured by Química Amparo due to production flaws. The MPSP determined that Anvisa acted effectively and noted that Ypê implemented voluntary recalls, consumer compensation, and quality improvement plans without proven concrete risks to consumer health.
