Anvisa orders seizure of counterfeit aesthetic products in Brazil
Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has issued warnings and seizure orders regarding counterfeit aesthetic products.
Galderma Brasil notified Anvisa of counterfeit units of Sculptra, a collagen biostimulator used to treat skin sagging and volume loss. The manufacturer noted that while legitimate Sculptra packaging is magenta, the counterfeit versions feature white boxes. Anvisa has prohibited the manufacture, distribution, and sale of these irregular units.
Separately, health authorities in Valparaíso de Goiás, in coordination with Anvisa, have ordered the withdrawal of a counterfeit batch of Dysport (batch P22686, 500 U, expiring March 2028). The legitimate Dysport is registered to Beaufour Ipsen Farmacêutica Ltda. Authorities have instructed clinics and professionals to cease use of the suspect batch and to report any findings to municipal health services.
