Anvisa seizes United Labz products and suspends Unilever production

The Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa) has taken significant enforcement actions against two different entities.

First, Anvisa ordered the immediate seizure of all products from the brand United Labz. The company, which presents itself as American, sells imported weight-loss pens allegedly containing Tirzepatide and Retatrutide. Anvisa noted that these products lack proper registration or notification with the agency and that Retatrutide is still in clinical development and not registered in any country. The seizure prohibits the manufacture, storage, distribution, sale, and use of these items.

Second, Anvisa has suspended the manufacturing of cleaning products at a Unilever plant in Vinhedo, São Paulo. The preventive measure follows an inspection that identified failures in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), including issues with water quality monitoring and internal investigation protocols. The suspension affects production lines for liquid soaps and fabric softeners, including brands such as Omo, Comfort, Surf, and Brilhante. Unilever stated it is implementing necessary improvements, and Anvisa clarified that because no microbiological contamination was detected, there is no need to recall products already on the market.
