Anvisa warns of AI-generated fake health gurus
The Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa) has issued a warning regarding health ebooks being sold on social media by fake gurus created using artificial intelligence. These digital personas, such as an AI-generated indigenous woman with over 600,000 followers, present themselves as experts offering secret or ancestral recipes that promise to cure various health conditions within days.
Anvisa emphasizes that these fictitious characters create a false sense of security, which may lead individuals to delay professional medical consultation and essential diagnoses. The agency also noted that while food provides nutritional value, marketing food products with claims of cure or treatment is misleading, as such characteristics belong to medications. Furthermore, the agency warned that excessive consumption of specific ingredients can lead to health complications.
