Anwar Gargash calls Flydubai pilot attack a ‘dangerous terrorist act’
Anwar Gargash, diplomatic advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates, has described the recent Flydubai flight incident as a ‘dangerous terrorist act’. The statement comes as investigations continue into an attack on an Indian pilot, Sumit Machhar, who sustained serious injuries during a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv.
The incident occurred while the aircraft was descending from an altitude of over 17,000 feet, when the co-pilot allegedly attacked the captain. The flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia. While the suspect has reportedly arrived in the country, the specific motives behind the attack have not yet been determined.
Gargash praised Machhar’s courage and professionalism, calling him a ‘true hero’ for his actions in preventing a potential catastrophe. He also cautioned against the promotion of conspiracy theories, emphasizing the need for vigilance against the risks of extremism while investigators work to establish the facts.
