Anwar Ibrahim addresses perceived ministerial disagreements

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stated that differing views or approaches among ministries do not necessarily indicate a split within the government. He explained that such differences are part of the discussion and deliberation process, which accounts for the specific responsibilities and priorities of each ministry to ensure the effective implementation of government agendas.

Anwar emphasized that all policies and decisions must undergo proper coordination and discussion. Matters requiring collective decisions are brought to the Cabinet for approval, adhering to the principle of collective responsibility. This response was provided in a written parliamentary reply to address concerns raised by Opposition Leader Hamzah Zainudin regarding conflicting stances between the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development.

The disagreement stemmed from issues involving project funding and delayed payments to contractors. Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who also serves as the Rural and Regional Development Minister, had expressed frustration over cash flow issues affecting contractors, while the Treasury indicated that certain allocations for rural roads had already been exhausted.
