Anwar Ibrahim approves RM1 million for Bagan Hindu crematorium
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has approved an additional RM1 million allocation for the Penang State Hindu Waqf Board (LWHPP) to construct a modern Hindu crematorium in Bagan, Penang. This brings the total project funding to RM2.5 million, up from the initial RM1.5 million.
The facility will serve as the second modern electric crematorium in Penang, following the one in Batu Lanchang. The project aims to provide the Hindu community, particularly in Seberang Perai, with a more organized and accessible location for final rites, reducing the need to travel to distant facilities.
The proposed crematorium will cover approximately 4,000 square feet. The tender process for the construction has already been opened.
