Anwar Ibrahim attends Malaysia-Brunei summit and discusses MA63 with state leaders
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim attended the 27th Annual Leaders' Consultation (ALC-27) in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. During the summit, Anwar held closed-door talks with Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, resulting in the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and bilateral cooperation documents between Malaysia and Brunei.
In conjunction with the summit, Anwar met with Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor and Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Openg to discuss strengthening cooperation between the federal government and the Borneo states. The discussions focused on the upcoming Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) Executive Action Council meeting, scheduled to take place in Kota Kinabalu on September 11, 2026. The leaders emphasized the importance of mutual respect and trust to ensure equitable and balanced development for the people of Sabah and Sarawak.
