Anwar Ibrahim defends anti-corruption investigations

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has addressed ongoing investigations into political leaders and high-ranking government officials, asserting that these actions are not driven by personal vendettas or jealousy. He emphasized that the Prime Minister is not involved in the investigative process, noting that enforcement agencies conduct the inquiries while the Attorney General determines whether to proceed with prosecutions.

Anwar stated that his primary responsibility is to ensure the government is administered according to the law to stop corruption and misappropriation. He urged individuals who act with integrity not to fear investigations by agencies such as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), or the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN).

He maintained that the government cannot allow corruption and abuse of power to persist and that enforcement must be based on evidence. He clarified that these efforts are intended to save the nation and ensure transparent governance rather than to protect specific groups or political positions.
