Anwar Ibrahim discusses fate of 55 missing Malaysians with Nepal PM
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has discussed the fate of 55 Malaysian citizens still missing following devastating floods in Nepal with Nepalese Prime Minister Balendra Shah. During a phone conversation, Anwar expressed the anxieties of the families awaiting news of their loved ones.
Anwar proposed the establishment of a formal mechanism to assist affected families with legal, financial, and administrative matters should the search efforts fail to locate the missing individuals. He indicated that an official letter detailing this proposal would be sent to Prime Minister Shah.
Prime Minister Shah described the situation on the ground as extremely difficult, comparing the scale of destruction to a tsunami. However, he assured that search operations would continue despite the challenging conditions. Anwar also extended his gratitude to the Nepalese government and rescue teams for their ongoing efforts.
