Anwar Ibrahim orders probe into fatal 11-vehicle crash in Temerloh
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has ordered a thorough investigation into a multi-vehicle accident in Temerloh, Pahang, which involved 11 vehicles and resulted in four deaths. The incident occurred around 10:00 PM at Kilometer 110 of the East Coast Expressway 4 (LPT4) near the Temerloh Toll Plaza exit.
Preliminary police investigations suggest a cement tanker lost control and collided with several other vehicles, including four cars, three SUVs, an MPV, a pickup truck, and a bus. Among the deceased were a family of three—a husband, wife, and their four-year-old son—who were reportedly traveling home after celebrating National Day, as well as a 55-year-old passenger from Shah Alam.
In a social media statement, the Prime Minister expressed his condolences to the victims' families and urged road users to strictly adhere to traffic regulations and prioritize safety. Following the tragedy, members of the public have called for stricter enforcement and tighter regulations regarding heavy vehicle operators.
