Anwar Ibrahim orders report on proposed Felda hotel sale
Prime Minister and Finance Minister Anwar Ibrahim has ordered the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) to submit a comprehensive report regarding a proposed sale of an agency-owned hotel. The order follows the discovery that the property was slated to be sold for £100 million (RM549.8 million), a significant decrease from its original purchase price of £160 million.
Anwar declined to sign the approval for the transaction, citing concerns over the financial loss. He emphasized the need to protect Felda as a vital institution and noted that Felda settlers continue to face economic hardships and require government assistance for basic facilities such as schools and infrastructure.
