Anwar Ibrahim pledges MA63 support and Felda investigation

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has reaffirmed the federal government's commitment to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), stating that the demands of Sabah and Sarawak are a national agenda rather than regional issues. Speaking at the PKR congress, Anwar emphasized that progress requires cooperation between Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak. He noted ongoing discussions with Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Openg regarding the relationship between the national oil company PETRONAS and the Sarawak-owned PETROS.

Additionally, the administration plans to investigate issues within the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) following a royal commission of inquiry into Tabung Haji. Anwar reported that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, expressed interest in the oversight of Felda. The Prime Minister has already directed Felda to provide a report concerning a proposed hotel sale that was allegedly priced significantly lower than its original purchase cost, amid ongoing hardships faced by Felda settlers.
