Anwar Ibrahim rejects linking Pakistan to Pahalgam attack

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has rejected claims linking Pakistan to the April 2025 Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir. During an interview with NDTV on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in New Delhi, Ibrahim stated that his intelligence agencies had provided no evidence of state-sponsored terrorism by Pakistan.

When asked if Israel’s actions in Gaza constituted state terrorism, Ibrahim responded, “Yes, it is terrorism, state terrorism.” However, he declined to extend that same label to Pakistan regarding the Pahalgam incident, noting that he is a close friend of Prime Minister Modi but emphasized that responsibility must be established through intelligence before making such assertions.

The Pahalgam attack, which killed 26 people, led to significant tensions between India and Pakistan. While New Delhi accused Islamabad of orchestrating the incident, Pakistan has denied the charges and called for a neutral investigation.
