Anwar Ibrahim urges unity and technological focus in Malaysia
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has called on the public to reject politics based on racial and religious hatred, emphasizing that national stability and progress depend on multi-ethnic unity. Speaking at a Pakatan Harapan event in Melaka, he noted that historical successes, such as the Melaka Sultanate, were built on cooperation rather than the dominance of a single group.
Anwar also criticized outdated parliamentary debates that focus on religious identity and sectarianism. He argued that the nation should instead prioritize future-oriented discussions, such as the mastery of artificial intelligence (AI) and supercomputing, to modernize the industrial sector and elevate the economy.
While advocating for industrial advancement, the Prime Minister stressed that Malaysia must balance progress with the preservation of national identity, culture, and human values, rather than merely imitating the cultural models of the United States, Russia, or China.
