Anwar Ibrahim visits India for BRICS Summit and bilateral talks

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is conducting a five-day working visit to India from September 11 to 15, focusing on strengthening economic ties, trade, investment, and accessing new markets. During the visit, Anwar will participate in the 18th BRICS Leaders' Summit in New Delhi, themed ‘Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Security’.

Anwar is scheduled to hold high-level bilateral meetings with several world leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. He is also expected to meet with the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

A key component of the visit involves strengthening ties with Ethiopia to access one of Africa's largest economies. This follows Malaysia's recent efforts to revitalize diplomatic relations, including the reopening of its embassy in Addis Ababa. The Prime Minister is accompanied by Malaysian ministers and business leaders to explore commercial cooperation and attract foreign investment.
