Anwar Ibrahim vows to continue Tabung Haji RCI investigation
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has stated that investigations into issues raised in the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report regarding Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) will continue to prevent further national losses. He emphasized that while legal action must be based on evidence and due process, the government will not compromise if strong proof of misconduct is found.
Anwar highlighted concerns regarding the disappearance of RM12 billion, noting that authorities must investigate how, when, and by whom the funds were lost. The investigation follows a 211-page RCI report published on July 29 by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), which examined the management and operations of TH from 2014 to 2020.
The report identified various management weaknesses and provided 25 recommendations for improvement. As of July 30, Tabung Haji has implemented 75 percent of these recommendations. The Prime Minister reiterated that combating leakages is essential to ensure national resources and allocations benefit the people rather than being lost to mismanagement.
