ANWB Energie to acquire NextEnergy to expand Dutch market presence

ANWB Energie has announced the acquisition of Utrecht-based energy supplier NextEnergy as part of a strategy to expand its presence in the Dutch energy market. The deal would add approximately 90,000 customers to ANWB Energie’s existing base of 200,000.

Both companies specialize in dynamic energy contracts where prices fluctuate hourly. NextEnergy also provides a specialized platform for optimized charging of electric vehicles and home batteries. The acquisition is currently subject to approval from the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM).

Existing customers of both companies will not face immediate changes to their contracts or terms. Further details regarding the integration of services and platforms are expected to be clarified by 2027, following regulatory clearance.
