Anxiety's Daily Impact and Sleep Habits Examined in Romanian Health Reports
Anxiety is a natural bodily response to perceived danger or stress, useful in small doses for alertness and preparation. When it becomes frequent, intense, or prolonged, it interferes with thinking, feeling, and daily actions. Common symptoms include excessive worry, concentration problems, irritability, persistent fatigue, muscle tension, palpitations, rapid breathing, sweating, trembling and sleep disturbances. Severe episodes may develop into panic attacks that, while brief, can feel overwhelming.
Psychologists note that many people rely on a television left on at night to fall asleep. Clinician Dr. Patricia Dixon explains that this habit can mask underlying trauma, anxiety, or hyper‑vigilance. The constant background noise distracts the mind from intrusive thoughts and masks sudden sounds that might trigger alarm, especially in individuals who have experienced past trauma. While the TV can temporarily ease anxiety‑driven rumination, experts advise replacing the habit with healthier sleep cues.
