Říčany speed cameras generate over 2.3 million euros in fines

Speed cameras in the Czech town of Říčany and surrounding municipalities have generated over 2.3 million euros in fines during 2025. The extensive system, which utilizes section speed measurement, issued 90,670 payment requests.

The revenue from these fines accounts for approximately seven percent of Říčany's total annual income, which reached roughly 34.7 million euros. While the city maintains that the system is implemented for road safety, the high volume of citations has prompted questions regarding whether the program serves primarily as a significant source of municipal revenue. The system covers nearly 30 locations, including Kamenice, Louňovice, Mirošovice, Světice, Mukařov, Vyžlovka, and Strančice.
