Anya Taylor‑Joy joins cast of ‘Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum’

Actress Anya Taylor‑Joy has been added to the cast of the upcoming film The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. She will portray a new elf character, Seren, a Sindar from the Woodland Realm who serves as a trusted and lethal agent of King Thranduil. The movie is directed by Andy Serkis, who also returns to play Gollum/Sméagol, and is being produced by Warner Bros. Pictures for the film feature returning cast members Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Elijah Wood as Frodo, Lee Pace as Thranduil, Jamie Dornan as a younger Aragorn, Kate Winslet as the mysterious Marigol, and others. Production is overseen by Peter Jackson, Philippa Boyens and additional writers, with filming slated to begin in New Zealand. The film is scheduled for release on 17 December 2027.
