Anya Taylor‑Joy joins the cast of Warner Bros.’ “The Hunt for Gollum”

Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema announced a new live‑action Lord of the Rings film, “The Hunt for Gollum”, slated for release on 16 December 2027. The movie will feature returning actors Elijah Wood as Frodo, Ian McKellen as Gandalf and Lee Pace reprising his role as King Thranduil, alongside new talent such as Kate Winslet, Jamie Dornan and Leo Woodall. Anya Taylor‑Joy has been confirmed for a newly created character, Seren, a Sindarin elf who serves as a trusted, lethal agent of Thranduil. The film is directed by Andy Serkis, who also portrays Sméagol/Gollum, with Peter Jackson and Philippa Boyens serving as producers. The casting marks Taylor‑Joy’s entry into the Tolkien franchise after previous roles in “The Witch”, “Split”, “The Menu” and “The Queen’s Gambit”.
