Anya Zein prepares for role in ‘Lobang Buaya’ film

Actress Anya Zein has detailed her intensive preparation for her role as Ningsih in the film ‘Lobang Buaya: 309 Hari Sebelum Tragedi Berdarah’. During a press conference in Jakarta on September 25, 2026, Zein explained that she approached the role through three specific lenses: character depth, physical readiness, and mental preparation.

To prepare physically, Zein participated in dance workshops, as her character is a dancer, and underwent specialized acting training. For character depth, she engaged in extensive discussions with director Hanung Bramantyo and her co-star Khiva Iskak to understand Ningsih’s background.

Due to the heavy emotional weight of the character’s journey, Zein also prioritized mental health. She consulted with a psychologist to develop methods for maintaining a boundary between her personal life and the intense emotions required for the role, ensuring she could portray the character without being negatively impacted by the character's traumatic experiences.
