Anyang City hosts special exhibition on Kim Chung-up and the French Embassy

Anyang City will host a special exhibition titled ‘140 Years of Dialogue, One Architecture’ at the Kim Chung-up Architecture Museum from October 15 to August 31 of next year. The exhibition commemorates the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and France.

The event focuses on the creation of the French Embassy in Korea, designed by the renowned architect Kim Chung-up. It explores the intersection of architecture, diplomacy, and cultural exchange through the collaboration between Kim and Roger Chambard, the French ambassador at the time.

Visitors can view historical artifacts, including Kim Chung-up’s materials from his time working at Le Corbusier’s atelier, his degree, Ambassador Chambard’s reports to France, embassy design blueprints, and Kim’s French National Order of Merit. The museum also features interactive spaces inspired by the embassy’s traditional roof curves.
