Anyang to conduct intensive crackdown on delinquent vehicles

Anyang City has designated August 25 as the third quarter ‘Day of Intensive Crackdown on Delinquent Vehicles.’ In collaboration with Gyeonggi Province, the city will conduct operations to seize license plates from vehicles with unpaid automobile taxes or related fines.

Using specialized equipment and vehicles equipped with license plate seizure systems, authorities will focus on high-density areas such as apartment complexes, large supermarkets, and public parking lots. The crackdown targets vehicles that have failed to pay taxes or fines at least twice, have outstanding amounts exceeding 300,000 KRW, or are under driving suspension orders.

For vehicles that do not meet these specific criteria, the city will issue warning notices to encourage voluntary payment. Seized plates will only be returned once the outstanding debts are settled. For long-term delinquents, the city plans to pursue more aggressive measures, including vehicle handover orders and public auctions.

To mitigate economic hardship, the city will implement flexible administrative measures for small-scale livelihood-dependent drivers, such as freight and delivery vehicle operators, by allowing installment payments and delaying seizure.
