Latin American reports cover various criminal and social incidents
Various criminal and social incidents have been reported across Latin America. In the Dominican Republic, Anyelina Vásquez Sosa was sentenced to 15 years in prison for the torture and abuse of a newborn infant in El Seibo. Separately, a mother in the same country is appealing for international aid to transport her 14-year-old daughter to the United States for urgent bone marrow transplant treatment for leukemia.
In Bolivia, authorities are investigating the death of a 19-year-old woman in Cochabamba, suspected to be a femicide; an 18-year-old man has been detained. Additionally, in Huanuni, a funeral was held for a newborn known as ‘Celeste de los Ángeles’ following an investigation into suspected infanticide.
Other reports include the discovery of a newborn's body in a trash site in Caleta Olivia, Argentina, and a legal dispute in Ibagué, Colombia, regarding the educational inclusion and treatment of a child with autism at a local school. In Centenario, police intervened after a man was observed behaving suspiciously with his four-year-old daughter at a service station.
