ANZ Group Holdings shares rebound 12% from annual low

ANZ Group Holdings Ltd shares have rebounded approximately 12% from their 52-week low recorded in early June. The previous decline was attributed to macroeconomic headwinds, including geopolitical volatility and falling global commodity prices, which raised concerns regarding inflation and interest rates in Australia.

The recent recovery follows a solid third-quarter FY26 result, where the company reported a cash profit of $1.90 billion. Excluding a provision for a New Zealand class action, the cash profit rose 5% to $1.98 billion. Key drivers included a 4% increase in Business and Private Banking lending and a 2% rise in net interest income from core operations. Operating expenses, excluding legal provisions, decreased by 3%.

Additionally, ANZ is progressing with its Suncorp Bank Ltd integration, with customer migration expected to conclude by June 2027. The integration is projected to deliver roughly $500 million in annual pre-tax cost savings by FY29. Analysts note that ANZ maintains a workplace culture rating of 3.3/5, which is higher than the ASX banking sector average of 3.1.
