Anze Kopitar confirms retirement from NHL after 20 seasons

Anze Kopitar has confirmed his retirement from the NHL, ending a distinguished 20-season career with the Los Angeles Kings. The 38-year-old Slovenian forward, who spent his entire professional career with the Kings, stated that his decision is definitive despite recently appearing in an exhibition game in Slovakia.

Kopitar, a two-time Stanley Cup champion, holds numerous franchise records, including most games played, goals, assists, and points. Over 1,521 regular-season games, he recorded 452 goals and 1,316 points. His accolades include two Selke Trophies, three Lady Byng Memorial Trophies, and the Mark Messier Leadership Award.

Following his final season, where he recorded 38 points in 67 games, Kopitar expressed satisfaction with his choice to prioritize family life. He noted that he is enjoying spending more time with his children's sporting activities, such as hockey tournaments and figure skating competitions.
