Anzoátegui Legislature Receives Draft Disaster Prevention Law

On July 31, the legislative council of the Anzoátegui state (Cleanz) received a draft law aimed at coordinating civil society and state agencies for the prevention, response, and monitoring of natural disasters. The proposal, announced by Governor Luis Marcano, was presented by civil‑society representatives including Carlota Salazar, Elizabeta Di Niscia, Carlos Ortiz and Luis Córdoba. Council president Andrés Márquez said the bill will be submitted to the plenary on Tuesday for detailed review, analysis and discussion. The initiative follows the June 24 double‑earthquake that highlighted the need for stronger emergency tools, and legislators Héctor Galindo and Saúl Gómez emphasized its collaborative nature.
