Ao Senden sets October 31 deadline for Nagaland health demands

The Ao Senden organization has rejected a response from the Nagaland Department of Health and Family Welfare regarding staffing and facility issues at Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) in Mokokchung. The group has set an October 31 deadline for the fulfillment of its demands, warning of an escalation in its ongoing agitation if the requirements are not met.

A primary demand is the immediate implementation of a government notification to ensure a radiologist is stationed at IMDH. The organization questioned why directives were issued to transfer existing specialists away from the hospital but failed to facilitate the release of incoming personnel, such as Dr. Weto Lomi from District Hospital Phek, to fill the vacancy.

Additionally, Ao Senden is demanding that several doctors and nurses currently attached to other medical institutions be reverted to their original postings at IMDH. The group also insists that hospital services be shifted to the newly constructed Block A. As a result of the perceived inaction, the organization has continued an indefinite lockdown of the Chief Medical Officer office in Mokokchung.
