Aobazaka46: New one-year limited Sakamichi Series group announced
Sony Music Labels has announced the launch of 'Aobazaka46', a new one-year limited idol group within the Sakamichi Series. The group is designed as a transitional unit for new members.
Following one year of activity, successful members will be officially assigned to existing groups: Nogizaka46 (7th generation), Sakurazaka46 (5th generation), or Hinatazaka46 (6th generation). The name 'Aobazaka' is intended to represent the growth and youthful potential of the members.
An audition process has commenced, running from August 18, 2026, through October 8, 2026. Eligible applicants are females aged 12 to 20 as of the October deadline who are able to relocate to Tokyo. The selection process includes web applications, online interviews, in-person screenings in major Japanese cities, and a final training camp in late December.
