Japan hosts diverse cultural exhibitions and regional festivals

Various cultural and community events are scheduled across Japan, ranging from specialized art exhibitions to local festivals.

In Gunma, the Tomioka City Museum of Art and Fukuzawa Ichiro Memorial Museum are hosting the “Non-dividing” Art Learning Exhibition, an inclusive event focused on breaking boundaries between expression and appreciation through workshops and symposiums. In Tokyo, the Ueno Zoo will host “Autumn Night Zoo” from October 9 to 12, extending hours until 20:00 to allow visitors to observe nocturnal animals. Additionally, the “RYUICHI SAKAMOTO + SHIRO TAKATANI AMBIENT KYOTO - TOKYO” exhibition at Azabudai Hills will feature special night events, including a talk by artist Shiro Takatani and a tea-themed session by the community “ochayoi.”

Regional festivals and markets are also active. Shizuoka will host the Shizuoka Handmade Marche with approximately 1,000 booths of crafts and food. In Ibaraki, the Night Park OARAI 2026 will feature light art installations at Oarai Sun Beach from October 30 to November 1. Other notable local events include the Hiisui Matsuri in Itoigawa, the Futami Fireworks Display in Ehime, and the Komoro City Children's Playground Autumn Thanksgiving. In Kitakyushu, the completion of the Orio Station Plaza will be celebrated with a three-day event in late November.
