AOR San Carlo hospital expands services and staff in Basilicata
The Azienda Ospedaliera Regionale (AOR) San Carlo is implementing significant expansions to its healthcare services and workforce in the Basilicata region of Italy.
At the San Pio da Pietrelcina hospital in Villa d’Agri, two new specialized outpatient clinics are scheduled to open. An orthoptic evaluation clinic will begin operations in October 2026, providing comprehensive visual function analysis. This will be followed by an orthopedic surgery clinic in November 2026, which will focus on procedures such as carpal tunnel release, soft tissue lesion removal, and hand biopsies.
Additionally, the regional hospital agency has announced a personnel expansion plan. For 2027, the agency expects approximately 130 new hires, resulting in a net increase of 80 staff members after accounting for 50 departures. The planned recruitment includes 72 nurses, 34 socio-sanitary workers, and various technical and administrative roles. This staffing increase aims to support new services and strengthen existing hospital departments.
