Aosta Alpine Training Center qualifies 20 military rescue specialists

The Alpine Training Center in Aosta has concluded the training program for 20 new military alpine rescue specialists. The group consists of 16 Military Alpine Rescue Operators (OSAM) and 4 Military Alpine Rescue Technicians (TESAM).

The training was designed to enhance the operational capabilities of the Army's Alpine Troops in complex mountain environments involving snow, ice, glaciers, and rocky walls. Personnel were trained in avalanche search and rescue using equipment such as ARTVA devices, probes, and shovels, as well as rope self-rescue maneuvers and technical operations on steep terrain.

In addition to technical mountain skills, the specialists received training in BLS-D first aid procedures. While these units are part of the military, they are also prepared to support civil protection systems upon request, providing a strategic response capability for emergency situations in alpine territories.
