Aosta police investigate brutal assault on postal worker

A 38-year-old Poste Italiane employee, Davide Cappello, is in serious condition at Umberto Parini Hospital following a brutal assault in Aosta. The attack occurred around 4:30 AM in via Guido Rey.

Cappello underwent lengthy head surgery due to severe injuries and facial disfigurement. While his condition is serious, he is not considered to be in immediate danger of death, with a prognosis of approximately one month. Due to the trauma, the victim was unable to provide immediate details regarding the identity of the attacker or the motive behind the violence.

Investigators from the Squadra Mobile and the Polizia Scientifica are currently examining the scene and reviewing footage from both public and private surveillance cameras to identify the perpetrator. Police have also interviewed acquaintances of the victim to reconstruct his movements during the night.

In a separate incident in Aosta's historic center during the same night, a brawl involving a group of foreign nationals reportedly left three people injured, involving the possible use of sharp objects.
