A.O.U. Dulbecco di Catanzaro implements advanced minimally invasive heart surgery

The A.O.U.R. Dulbecco di Catanzaro has implemented a specialized program for the minimally invasive treatment of mitral valve disease, aortic valve disease, and coronary artery diseases. Led by Professor Pasquale Mastroroberto, the program utilizes advanced surgical techniques including mini-thoracotomy, mini-sternotomy, and transaxillary access.

Unlike traditional cardiac surgery that requires a full sternal opening, these minimally invasive methods use much smaller incisions. This approach is designed to reduce surgical trauma, post-operative pain, and recovery times, often allowing for shorter hospital stays and a faster return to daily activities. The program was developed through training and collaboration with specialized international cardiac surgery centers.
