Aoup surgical units gain international recognition for advanced robotic techniques
Specialists from the Aoup surgical units in Pisa, Italy, have gained international recognition for their expertise in minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques at major global medical forums.
At the World Conference on Lung Cancer in Seoul, South Korea, surgeon Gaetano Romano presented on the integration of robotic surgery with Hyperthermic Intrathoracic Chemotherapy (HITHOC) for treating pleural mesothelioma. The presentation highlighted the precision and three-dimensional visualization offered by robotic platforms in multimodal treatment strategies.
In Taiwan, the Aoup Endocrine Surgery unit participated in international training courses at IRCAD-Taiwan. Led by Professor Paolo Miccoli, the sessions focused on minimally invasive endocrine surgery and radiofrequency thermoablation of thyroid nodules. Surgeons Gabriele Materazzi and Piermarco Papini served as tutors, demonstrating techniques such as Mini-Invasive Video-Assisted Thyroidectomy (MIVAT) and Robotic-Assisted Transaxillary Thyroidectomy (RATT) to medical professionals from across Asia.
