Aoyama Gakuin University athletes surveyed on dietary habits
Murakami Farm conducted a survey among 46 athletes from the Aoyama Gakuin University track and field club (long-distance block) during their summer training camp in August 2026. The study focused on dietary habits and vegetable consumption among the athletes, who are competing for a fourth consecutive Hakone Ekiden title.
Key findings indicate that athletes prioritize nutrition and taste when selecting vegetables. Approximately 70% of respondents highly rated broccoli super sprouts for their nutritional value and convenience. The athletes frequently incorporate these sprouts into various dishes, including salads, noodles, and soups.
Regarding overall dietary habits, roughly 40% of the athletes emphasized the importance of eating sufficient quantities, while over 80% prioritized maintaining a balanced diet. Murakami Farm, which provides broccoli super sprouts to the university's dormitory, also collaborates with sports nutritionists to develop recipes for the athletes.
