AP-66 highway closed overnight due to Negrón tunnel landslide
The AP-66 highway connecting León and Asturias was completely closed overnight from Friday to Saturday due to a landslide inside the Negrón tunnel. The incident occurred around 11:00 PM at kilometer 85.
At the time of the landslide, only one tunnel tube was operational because the other is closed for modernization works being carried out by the Ministry of Transport. The closure forced traffic to be diverted via the N-630 and the Pajares pass. No injuries were reported.
The Subdelegation of the Government in León announced that the highway was reopened at 7:55 AM on Saturday after debris was removed and safety checks were completed. However, traffic remains affected by ongoing construction, and the DGT reports a lane closure between kilometers 82 and 86 due to road damage.
