Dominican Republic announces Restaurant Week 2026 and APAP scholarships

The Dominican Republic is hosting two major initiatives in September. The IX edition of SDQ Gastronómico and Restaurant Week 2026 will feature over 200 restaurants across five destinations: Santo Domingo, Santiago, Punta Cana, Puerto Plata, and Jarabacoa. Organized by ADERES and ASONAHORES, the event aims to promote gastronomic tourism. The schedule begins in Punta Cana (Sept 1–6), moves to Santiago (Sept 7–13), continues in Santo Domingo (Sept 14–20), and concludes in Puerto Plata and Jarabacoa (Sept 21–27).

Separately, the Asociación Popular de Ahorros y Préstamos (APAP) has launched its ‘Somos Formación Continua’ program, offering 500 full scholarships for specialized diplomas and courses. The program targets qualified clients in high-demand fields such as cybersecurity, data analysis, business intelligence, process robotics, and business management. Courses will be provided by institutions including INTEC, PUCMM, UNIBE, APEC, and ITLA through virtual, hybrid, or in-person modalities. Scholarships will be distributed in weekly blocks of 125 via the APAP mobile app from August 24 to September 14.
