Aparecida de Goiânia authorities identify remains of missing illustrator

Forensic authorities in Goiás have confirmed that human remains discovered in a wooded area in Aparecida de Goiânia belong to Jefferson de Oliveira. Oliveira, an illustrator and carpenter, had been missing since July 25, following a car accident on the GO-070 highway.

The remains were located by the Goiás Fire Department using search dogs in a dense vegetation area approximately two kilometers from the site of the original accident. Investigators noted that the clothing found with the remains and an orthodontic appliance are consistent with those used by Oliveira.

Due to the advanced state of decomposition, the Forensic Science Police are utilizing anthropological examinations, including CT scans and dental analysis, to finalize the investigation. While the identity is confirmed, the exact cause of death remains undetermined as the decay of soft tissues prevents the analysis of internal organs. Authorities are continuing to examine the skeletal structure for signs of fractures or other injuries to reconstruct the circumstances of his death.
