Aparecida de Goiânia implements new literacy policy and lighting upgrades
The municipal government of Aparecida de Goiânia has introduced several new initiatives focused on education and urban infrastructure. The city council approved Project Law No. 093/2026, establishing the 'AlfaMais Aparecida' Municipal Literacy and Literacy Policy. This program mandates that all children in the municipal school system must be literate by the end of the 2nd year of Elementary School. The policy aims to institutionalize literacy standards, providing continuous training for educators and using diagnostic assessments to support students struggling with reading, writing, and mathematical reasoning.
Simultaneously, the city is expanding its public lighting network to improve safety and visibility. Recent works on Avenida C-7 in the Goiânia Park Sul sector included the installation of 11 poles and 25 LED luminaires. This expansion is part of a broader modernization effort that has already updated over 64,000 lighting points using LED technology through a public-private partnership. The administration is currently working to extend coverage to several other neighborhoods and circulation corridors across the municipality.
