Aparecida de Goiânia population exceeds 560,000 residents
Aparecida de Goiânia has surpassed 560,000 inhabitants, maintaining its position as the second-largest city in the state of Goiás. According to new population estimates released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the municipality reached 560,996 residents as of July 1, 2026.
The city grew by 4,975 inhabitants compared to 2025, representing a growth rate of approximately 0.89%. This figure exceeds the national average growth rate of 0.37% recorded during the same period. Nationally, Aparecida ranks 41st among the most populous municipalities in Brazil, including state capitals.
Mayor Leandro Vilela stated that the population increase highlights the growing importance of the municipality and necessitates urban planning to manage expansion. The municipal administration noted that investments are being increased in infrastructure, mobility, health, education, housing, and security to meet the rising demand.
