Aparecida de Goiânia uses prison labor for urban landscaping

The City Hall of Aparecida de Goiânia has launched a new phase of urban revitalization by incorporating labor from the state prison system. This initiative is a partnership with the Government of Goiás, facilitated through the Penal Police.

The project focuses on accelerating landscaping services and the planting of emerald grass across 20 major avenues in the municipality. In this current stage, 30 incarcerated individuals are participating in work fronts coordinated by the Secretariat of Urban Development.

Mayor Leandro Vilela stated that the initiative aims to improve the city's appearance while contributing to the social reintegration of inmates by providing work opportunities. The program complements municipal maintenance efforts, which include cleaning, mowing, and the removal of irregular debris in green areas.
