Apartment fire in Kamiita Town leaves four injured

A fire broke out early in the morning on September 16 at the Kamiyake Danchi apartment complex in Kamiita Town, Tokushima Prefecture. The blaze destroyed approximately 60 square meters of a unit in building 9.

Four individuals were transported to the hospital due to smoke inhalation and burns. Three residents from the second-floor unit—an 81-year-old man, an 82-year-old woman, and a 39-year-old man—sustained full-body burns. A 70-year-old woman from a third-floor unit was also hospitalized. Authorities report that their injuries are not life-threatening.

Police and fire departments are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
