Apaseo el Grande police thwart cargo truck robbery attempt

An attempt to rob a cargo truck on the Panamericana highway near San Pedro Tenango in Apaseo el Grande, Guanajuato, was intercepted by local police on Thursday morning. The intervention triggered a high-speed pursuit involving two white vehicles: a Nissan Frontier and a small pickup truck.

During the chase, a gunfight broke out between armed suspects and law enforcement, including the Guardia Nacional and the Secretaría de Seguridad y Paz. The pursuit ended near the factory road when the Nissan Frontier lost control and overturned after striking a mesquite tree.

While some reports suggest three individuals may have been detained at the scene, others indicate that suspects managed to flee on foot. Authorities launched air and ground search operations in the surrounding area. Two vehicles were recovered and placed at the disposal of the relevant authorities.
