Violent crime wave reported across multiple Latin American regions
Multiple violent incidents involving shootings and machete attacks have been reported across several Latin American regions.
In Mexico, an armed confrontation in Apatzingán, Michoacán, left several people injured, including members of the Guardia Civil. Separate attacks in the same state resulted in a death at a grocery store and a fatal shooting of an artisan in Huejotzingo.
In Paraguay, a 24-year-old was shot in Asunción, leading to the arrest of two suspects. In Luque, a police officer was injured by a machete during a domestic violence intervention, resulting in the suspect being shot by authorities.
Other notable crimes include a machete attack in Cojedes, Venezuela, that left two people in critical condition before the suspect died, and a fatal stabbing in Tucumán, Argentina. In Colombia, an armed group attacked a rural establishment in La Gloria, resulting in at least four deaths. Additionally, a shooting in Trujillo, Peru, claimed the life of a 28-year-old man.
