Apatzingán Mayor inaugurates pedestrian bridge and announces budget austerity

Apatzingán Mayor Fanny Arreola Pichardo has inaugurated a new pedestrian bridge connecting the Miguel Hidalgo and El Varillero neighborhoods in Michoacán, Mexico. The project addresses a decades-old demand from local residents and aims to improve mobility and safety for approximately 1,200 inhabitants, particularly students attending local secondary and vocational schools.

The bridge features a metal structure, protective mesh, and 60-watt lighting. It is designed to be accessible for individuals with reduced mobility and allows for the passage of bicycles and motorcycles, provided riders dismount while crossing.

In a separate announcement regarding municipal finances, Arreola Pichardo stated that the 2026 Apatzingán Fair and October Festivities will follow a more austere budget compared to previous years. The mayor noted that the administration seeks to manage public resources more responsibly, moving away from high-cost entertainment expenditures toward a lineup more aligned with the municipality's current economic conditions.
